Zach Lee's story.............you can do it too, I'll teach you how!

Zach took the Mystery School in December 2002, and he had never dirt tracked before. This is Zach. He's from Texas and is over 6 feet tall! He thought he would have trouble riding the XR100 due to his size.

Zach started out with good speed, but did not have very good form. This made it hard for him to ride well, as his knees kept hitting the inside handle bar.

Notice that his left knee is under the handle bar, and his steel shoe is pointed almost straight to the forward direction. His outside elbow is also very low and he's sitting in the center of the seat instead of to the high side.

About an hour later, he has figured out some things. He now has his inside knee away from the handle bar. Now he can lean the bike over a lot lower. Notice how now his steel shoe is pointing away from the direction he's going, and to the inside of the turn. This helps his knee stay out of the way. His outside elbow is still low, making it hard for him to open up the throttle.

Another hour and he has his elbow up, and is ready with his wrist to open the throttle as soon as his entrance slide is finished. His knee is away from the bar, and his foot is pointed to the inside. He also now is siting on the high side of the seat.

This shot shows Zach at the end of the day, sliding into the turn with control, because he has great body position on the bike.
Who says that an over 6 foot guy can't ride a little XR100?

Zach sure can now, I'm proud of him and how fast he's learned to do it!
